IELTS is the world’s most popular high-stakes English language test. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular high-stakes English language proficiency test for study, work and migration, with more than three million tests taken in the past year.

The IELTS results are recognised by more than 10,000 organisations, including educational institutions, employers, professional associations and governments, in 140 countries around the world.

IDP is the co-owner of the IELTS test and delivers it through our network of custom built test centres.

Here at IDP, registering for an IELTS test is easy. Book your test online and pay for it using a VISA/ Master Card (credit or debit card) and that’s it. It is that convenient. You can register at our office in Gulshan, Dhanmondi or Chittagong during office hours. IDP also has a wide range of IELTS registration partners nationwide where you can simply register and pay for your test fees without any hassle.

IDP IELTS Bangladesh delivers the IELTS test four times a month or 48 times in a year.

How to book your IELTS test?

You may either book YOUR IELTS test online or come to your nearest IDP branch to book it test offline. Here are the steps: 

1. Pick your desired test location/city from the tables below.
2. Choose your test type – Academic/General Training.
3. Find a date that suits you the best.  
4. Select the option ‘Book Test.’
5. Fill up the required details and complete the online application.
6. Proceed to pay the test fee.

How much does the IELTS test cost?

The IELTS test fee is BDT 17,000

The IELTS for UKVI test fee is BDT 23,000

The IELTS Life Skills test fee is BDT 17,200

Fee payment

You will need a credit/debit card (VISA / MasterCard) to make a payment online or pay by cash at your nearest IDP Bangladesh office- Gulshan, Dhanmondi or Chittagong. You can also register and pay the test fee at any of our registration partners across the country, closest to your convenient location. To find the nearest registration partner, call us anytime at 09666782782. You will also have to upload a clear, scanned colour copy (less than 1.5MB size) of your passport to complete the process.
 

Booking confirmation

Make sure that you complete your payment within two days, else the booking will get deferred. Once the payment is received, you will receive an email receipt confirming it. You will also receive a final confirmation detailing you on your test date, reporting time, venue, test schedule and candidate number five to seven days before your IELTS test.  

For your Speaking Test, the details will be emailed two days before your Speaking test date. Please note that your Speaking test may be held either before or after your Listening, Reading, and Writing test, depending on your location. Ensure that your email account settings allows IDP emails and keep checking your spam/junk folder in case you don’t seem to receive any.

1. Where can I take IELTS?

The network of IELTS test centres managed by IDP is vast -- IELTS Bangladesh offers 10 test locations across the country – Dhaka (Uttara, Gulshan, Banani, Mohakhali, Mirpur and Dhanmondi), Chittagong, Khulna and Sylhet.

2. How much does it cost?

IELTS test fees vary from country to country. The IELTS test fee is the same for both versions of the test (Academic and General Training). Test fee is BDT 17,000 BDT for IELTS, BDT 23,000 for IELTS for UKVI and BDT 17,200 for IELTS Life Skills (subject to change without prior notice).

3. How do I book/register for the test?

You can choose to take IELTS test with IDP at various convenient locations in Bangladesh. Log on to https://my.ieltsessentials.com/ and complete your registration by paying online with your VISA/Master card (credit and debit cards are accepted). It’s fast and easy. Please make sure you have a scanned copy (JPEG/PNG/PDF – less than 1.5MB size) of your valid international passport ready to upload during online registration.

4. What if I need to postpone or cancel my IELTS test?

Please contact the test centre where you booked your IELTS test from. If you postpone or cancel your application more than 5 weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration charge.

Candidates who seek to cancel their registration or transfer test dates within the five-week period prior to the test date will only receive a refund if they can satisfy to the test centre authority that their ability to sit the test has been affected by illness or serious cause. Serious causes include:

• illness – e.g. hospital admission, serious injury or illness (does not include minor illness such as a mild cold)
• loss or bereavement – death of a close family member
• hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident
• military service.

5. Do I take all parts of the test on the same day? Which part do I take first?

The Listening, Reading and Writing components of the test are always completed immediately after each other and with no break. You will do the Listening component first followed by the Reading and Writing components of the test. Depending on the test centre, the Speaking test may be taken up to 7 days either before or after the test date.

6. What are the test rules?

Test rules and guidelines can be found on the 'Notice to Candidates' provided in the IELTS Application Form. You are also advised to read the Information for Candidates booklet carefully so that you understand the test format and know what to expect on the test day. 7. What can I take into the examination room?

Only pens, pencils and erasers.

You must bring your original passport that you used to register for your IELTS with IDP. You must leave everything else outside the examination room.

Mobile phones and pagers must be switched off and placed with personal belongings in the area designated by the supervisor. If you are found to be in possessionof any electronic item during the test, you will be disqualified.
